MACHRA NIGHT A GREAT SUCCESS
The most recent “A NIGHT WITH” evening conducted by MACHRA was a terrific night enjoyed by all who attended.
Held at the Taylors Lakes Hotel (Taylors Lakes) on July 28, the evening featured the world’s most decorated female reinsperson Kerryn Manning, Chris Lang (Snr) and media personality Bill (Hutchy) Hutchison who took the audience through a journey of their involvement in harness racing.
The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Association is to be held in the basement of the Junction Tabaret (Moonee Ponds) commencing at 8-00pm on Wednesday November 16 – all are invited to attend.
VICTORY FOR CLINTON WELSH
MACHRA President Clinton Welsh was successful with the trotter Red Samurai at Menangle (NSW) on Saturday October 1, coming from last to score from Commander Rama and Classic Playboy.
COMMITTEEMEN ALSO VICTORIOUS
MACHRA committeemen Brian Dobson, John Hawke, Len Baker and John Muller have all shared in winners over recent weeks.
Brian Dobson’s Monte Carlo Lombo scored at Ballarat on September 14, defeating Claire Jasper and Larriken Larry, while former Kiwi gelding Bressingham greeted the judge at Bendigo on October 12 for Len Baker and John Muller, taking out the 3B0 Star FM Pacers Handicap for C3 or better class in advance of Rowlon The Dream and George Samuel.
John Hawke was “jumping for joy” at Tabcorp Park Melton on October 14, when Hamilton Cup winner Vito Vito led throughout to land the Tiffany Murray Trust Pace for M2 & M4 class over 2240 metres from The Cavalier and Henchman.
MACHRA RADIO
The MACHRA radio program “HARNESS REVIEW” is heard every Monday both over the net at www.979fm.net and through 979fm from 8-10pm.
The program features interviews with harness racing participants, plus segments from South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and Queensland.
INTERESTING INTERVIEWS
Over the past few months, we have conducted several informative radio interviews including one with the newly appointed Chairman of Stewards at HRV – Mr Shane Larkins, while we were fortunate on another evening to have as our special studio guests both John Anderson (CEO – HRV) and Andrew Kelly (CEO – HRA).
Produced and hosted by Len Baker, assisted by Brian Dobson, Alexandra Hurley and Clinton Welsh on a rotation basis, HARNESS REVIEW is in its 17th year of operation.
